About this Event
Moonworld, a new Queens-based apparel label will be making its public debut. Using hand-printed, single layer overlays, each Moonworld piece of clothing is one of a kind, never to be repeated. The opening marks the start of a three-month residency through January 2026 in collaboration with Canvas 3.0.
Early Shopping and Opening Party
The store will open to the public from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for early access shopping, followed by the official opening celebration from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The evening will feature immersive psychedelic art and photo booths, music, drinks, and hundreds of unique garments available only that night.
Laurie Shapiro Collaborations
Artist Laurie Shapiro will headline the opening with new immersive installation works created specifically for the Oculus space. Shapiro, a Carnegie Mellon graduate known for her kaleidoscopic environments combining painting, sewing, and screen printing, will also debut a special Moonworld collaboration capsule. These limited pieces will be available exclusively in-store on November 1.
NYC Brand Collaborations
Moonworld will also introduce collaborations with two New York-based artists:
Moonworld × Lasercats (@_lasercats), a real life interactive street art experiment with roots in NYC and collaborations all around the world including Canada, London and Columbia.
Moonworld x Athenebytes, a Harlem based artist specializing in one of a kind upcycled clothing, deconstructed and rebuilt into new imaginative statement pieces. This collection will feature a series of hand printed up-cycled denim kimonos.
Flash Tattoos, Drinks and Music
From 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., guests can receive complimentary flash tattoos from New York–based artist Tav (@taeeaiko), known for her fine-line, illustrative work that merges futuristic motifs with traditional tattoo precision. She regularly collaborates with art-forward spaces across the city, and her designs will be available exclusively during this event.
A full bar will operate throughout the evening, serving a custom menu of alcoholic and non-alcoholic craft cocktails, espresso drinks, and teas. Three DJs will provide a continuous program of house, EDM, and forward-leaning electronic music, and a special live performance by Steel The Beat, a steel pan collective based in Pittsburgh that reimagines new and classic songs into out of this world harmonies.
