Adapted from an unfinished play from playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney, this tender drama from writer-director Barry Jenkins follows three crucial chapters in the life of Chiron, a young Black man growing up in Miami, as he grapples with understanding his place in the world and his sexuality. Winner of Best Picture at the 2017 Academy Awards, Moonlight celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2016. This screening will be preceded by a musical performance from Trinity Kimbrough as part of Reel Visions. Trinity Kimbrough is an aspiring jazz musician from Columbia, MO. She began playing saxophone in 6th grade. Unlike a majority of saxophone players, her primary instrument is the baritone saxophone, which she began playing in 7th grade. From middle to college she has earned several rewards for her musicianship. Currently Trinity is a sophomore in college pursuing her bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. She is also in the school’s Concert Jazz Ensemble. Some of her other hobbies include painting/drawing and binge watching TV shows.
