Equal parts DJ, producer, and songwriter, MOONLGHT is a genre-blurring force in electronic music. The project is the brainchild of multi-platinum producer Stefan Schonewille, a behind-the-scenes producer/songwriter whose work has earned billions of streams and multiple platinum certifications.
Born in the Netherlands and raised across Europe, he picked up guitar at six, played in bands through his teens, and eventually found his stride in production. That path shaped a sound rooted in electronic music, infused with country, classic rock, pop, and hip-hop.
2024 marked a breakout year for MOONLGHT, driven by his now-iconic flips of classic rock anthems. His remix of “Free Bird” became one of the year’s most viral sounds, racking up tens of millions of streams and positioning him as a go-to for bold, boundary-pushing remixes.
Since launching the project, MOONLGHT has lit up dancefloors and sawdust-covered stages alike—from clubs and dive bars to major electronic festivals. Highlights include sets at EDC Las Vegas, Stagecoach, and Beyond Wonderland Chicago. No matter the crowd, MOONLGHT delivers.
2025 is already heating up, with an official remix of Trace Adkins’ “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” and a viral rework of “There She Goes” with Cyril and The La’s—now the #1 song on TikTok with over 2 million creates. With momentum accelerating, MOONLGHT is primed to make 2025 his biggest year yet.
