Come and join me for a fun day learning the basics of lino printing, making your very own beautiful reduction print of a moon gazing hare.Hello,
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a Devon based artist and qualified art and design teacher. I am passionate about teaching different artistic processes and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to learn the basics of lino printing.
My workshop is designed to be a relaxed friendly space where you can meet new people and have the opportunity to create, learn and have fun. Throughout the day I will teach you how to create a design, and then transfer this to your lino block ready to carve. You will have practise opportunities to develop your cutting technique and familiarise yourself with the various cutting tools, before embarking on your final design.
You will learn how to create a reduction print, which means that you will print one colour and then make a second cut in the lino, and then print a different colour on top, and so on. You will make 4 cuts in total and print 4 colours. I will demonstrate every stage of the process so it all becomes clear. By the end of the workshop you will have a set of 5 final prints, along with a test print and your carved lino block to take home.
All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the day. The only thing you will need to bring is a packed lunch and an apron or wear old clothes.
