Join us for the annual ceremony in remembrance of the Dawson and Mier men buried on Monument Hill. 9 a.m. - Descendants' Reunion & Breakfast with the Sons and Daughters of the Republic of Texas - Monument Hill chapters. This event is invite-only.
10 a.m. - Remembrance Ceremony - The memorial will include keynote speaker Sam Haynes, followed by a wreath-laying and gun salute. This event is free and open to the public.
1:30 p.m. - Author Talk w/ Sam W. Haynes
After lunch, join us for a special talk and Q&A session with Sam W. Haynes, professor and author of multiple acclaimed works on Texas history, including Soldiers of Misfortune: The Somervell and Mier Expeditions (1990) and his most recent book, Unsettled Land: From Revolution to Republic, the Struggle for Texas (2022).
