Theme: Color of the WindCancer survivors, family members and support persons in the community are invited to a National Cancer Survivors Day Event at the Monument Health Cancer Care Institute. Those recently diagnosed with cancer are also invited to attend.
The annual event will be held from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Cancer Care Institute at 353 Fairmont Boulevard. The cost is $5, and your ticket is a donation to support future cancer care community education events.
The program will include a keynote speaker, educational sessions featuring topics of cancer rehabilitation therapy, nutrition, mental health, exercise and community resource booths.

2025 Keynote Speaker: Vicki Furnish – Survivor, Speaker and Advocate for Hope
Vicki Furnish is a three-time cancer survivor whose journey of resilience and faith has inspired many. First diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2000 while raising three young children, she fought through and became a 23-year survivor before facing cancer again—this time, breast cancer. Shortly after being declared cancer-free, she was diagnosed with a third type of cancer: colon cancer. Today, Vicki is once again cancer-free and celebrating life.
Grateful for the unwavering support of her faith, family, and friends, Vicki is passionate about sharing the hope and encouragement that sustained her through each battle. As a speaker, she offers a powerful message of perseverance, gratitude and strength, inspiring others to find hope in the midst of their own challenges
Kristin Torgerson - Meal Prep Tips
Kristin Torgerson is employed as a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist, practicing in an outpatient capacity at the Cancer Care Institute. With a bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics from University of North Dakota, she holds memberships with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, South Dakota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and the Oncology Nutrition Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition to her professional commitments, Kristin is a proud veteran of the Army National Guard and enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
