About this Event
Monthly Visitor is a new class series by Period Nirvana. Every month, we host a speaker to teach a class or lead a workshop in their area of expertise. The class will be about an hour long with the opportunity for questions and to shop for menstrual care and wellness products afterwards. Enjoy 15% off your purchase as a thank you for purchasing a ticket and attending!
This month we invite Kristen Olberz, LCMHCA, BSN-RN, C.H. to lead a class on perimenopause and menopause! This class will include a brief overview of current menopause treatments and the ongoing research into this under-studied transition in people’s lives. There will be a discussion about symptoms, not only physical, but the mental components as well. She will cover the different treatment options that are available, both hormonal and non-hormonal. She will also provide tips for speaking with your provider about your symptoms so that you have the best chance of being heard and getting the help you need.
This event is for anyone curious about perimenopause or menopause! Perhaps you’ve begun experiencing symptoms, or have been for a while, and want to know what options are available. Or maybe you have a loved one who is about to enter this transition period and want to know how best to support them. Period Nirvana is an inclusive space and we welcome anyone who wishes to attend.

Kristen Olberz grew up in Loo-a-vull, Kentucky where she was taught that learning never ceases and curiosity is a gift. She became a nurse in 1994, both because she is a healer but she wanted time for creativity and play to balance out life. She's worked in both psychiatric nursing and labor and birth along the way. She became a hypnotherapist in 1998 and specialized in fertility support, while also teaching HypnoBirthing for 17 years. She lived in Portland, Oregon, for many years, where she co-owned a spa and wellness center that focused on all aspects of pregnancy. Since coming to Asheville in 2015, she has obtained her Masters in Counseling and has set up a private practice specializing in women challenged by ADHD and the peri/menopause transition. She also holds 7 week long support groups around peri/menopause that blend research-based education, advocacy for members getting the best care possible, processing and connection with others, and Expressive Arts.
