About this Event
The California Writers Club is a nonprofit professional organization open to writers in every genre and at every level of experience, from novice to published. Our mission is to educate writers of all abilities in the craft and business of writing. Our purpose is to promote fellowship and to provide practical information that supports all members in achieving their publishing goals.
The Berkeley Branch is the founding branch of the CWC, and we serve all of Alameda County. Our members enjoy being part of a rich history of Bay Area literature, tracing our club’s roots back to Jack London, Joaquin Miller, Bret Harte and Ina Coolbrith.
Notable speakers are the highlight of our monthly meetings. We showcase industry leaders — writers, editors, publishers, agents, and teachers of all kinds — who inform our members and guests about topics related to the art and craft of writing, the publishing industry, and the business of writing. You can browse some of our recent programs here. *In June we host our member book launch on the Saturday before Father's Day
The “Member Spotlight” features members sharing their good works. We recognize published and emerging CWC members with a few minutes at the mic before each speaker to talk about their journey, read their work, and answer questions.
