FLORIDA NATIVE PLANT SOCIETY - PALM BEACH COUNTY CHAPTERMONTHLY MEETING
TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 2024
7pm-9pm
FEATURED SPEAKER: Melany Flint, Field Supervisor for the Institute for Regional Conservation
TOPIC: Pine Rockland Initiative Program - Plants and Habitat Restoration Management
Join us on Tuesday, June 18th for a presentation on the rare and native plants found in Miami-Dade County's Pine Rocklands, and the everyday methods used to maintain the health of this imperiled ecosystem. Our guest speaker is Melany Flint, Field Supervisor for the Institute for Regional Conservation. Melany leads a team of field technicians in restoring the Pine Rocklands, an ecosystem she knows well. Prior to working with the IRC, she collected data on two endemic pine rockland butterflies in the Everglades so has loved being a part of a team focused on keeping the remaining Pine Rocklands in south Florida happy and healthy. Melany graduated from FIU with a bachelors in biology and a certificate in biodiversity conservation.
