Monthly 'Come and Try Midland' Ride, for those who:- are curious about joining our club;
- haven't ridden in a group before and are interested to see what it's like;
- are worried they might not be 'fast' enough, or 'strong' enough, or any other enough (including "Kenough' ;));
- just want to meet some cool people to ride with on the reg!
The ride will be a moderate-paced river loop, with the pace dictated by the skills and abilities of the attendees. The distance is around 35-40km, not including the ride back to the city.
Instruction on group riding skills will be given, including calling out, signalling, ride etiquette and the like. You don't even need clippy-cloppy pedals or shoes, or even that much lycra ? As long as you don't rock up in a puffer vest you'll be fine ? ?
This ride is a no drop ride - so this means that no man (or woman!) is left behind!!
We convene for coffee in Applecross following our ride, and you are welcome to meet the rest of #teammidland and then ride with us back to the city, or head out on your own.
All we ask is:
- road worthy bike - preferrably a road bike, however if you have a different type of bike please contact us to check;
- sorry no tri bars; these can be dangerous on group rides;
- suitable helmet, your own spares, water, snacks etc;
- we would prefer you have an AusCycling Membership, which provides insurance for riders. A free trial membership is available via the link in our Bio, or a Lifestyle Membership starts at quite a low monthly amount (probably less than the cost of your coffees!);
- you listen and obey your ride leader and are courteous to other riders;
- you have fun!!
Please note that this ride is probably best suited to persons over the age of 13. If you have an interested rider below this age, please contact us as we have a lot of other junior options available.
Event location is slightly wrong on the map because Google maps do be tedious; we meet on the western side of the Mill Point Reserve, in the car park where the boat ramp is.
