The fall coffee house season is rocking! Doors open at 6:30 pm for the open stage sign-up and then things kick off at 7pm with an hour of open mic followed by a refreshment break and then the performance feature. November 15th Sooke Folk is proud to present the AWAKENEERS who promise to provide "timeless contemporary folk music." This nomadic tribe of multi-instrumentalist songwriters (most of whom are siblings) offer a genre-bending blend of acoustic positivity that orbits elliptically around the idea of folk music. Segueing from a foot-stomping fiddle tune to a hip-hop guide to mindfulness, or a meditative love song to Mother Earth, their music centers around honest vocals with rich harmonies and diverse acoustic instrumentation.Since their early days as small-town buskers this unique musical family has toured North America and Europe by sailboat and by van, playing for folk clubs, festivals, eco-villages, and congregations of all faiths.
Adults not performing on the open stage contribute $10 so that we can keep live music alive in our community. Kids and performers enter free. We look forward to seeing you there. Prepayment of entry is available via etransfer to [email protected]
