We will be meeting via Zoom and in person at UA Local 12 (Plumbers and Gasfitters) , 1240 Mass Ave in Dorchester thanks to (our soon to be newest chapter member I hope) Manny Santiago. We will have light dinner and refreshments if you can make it out to Dorchester on Wednesday May 29th at 6pm and have a few things we want to work on.
We will continue conversation on the deferred action train the trainer curriculum we heard about at last meeting from our friends at Justice at Work. So far Rodrigo Badaro, Alex Galimberti, Jorge Rivera and Andre Simoes have expressed interest in helping with this effort so it will be important for us to create a timeline of when we can finalize this before we are able to host a presentation later this summer/early fall.
We also have a possible Labor Day/Latinx Heritage month event we wanted to also plan for so just need to confirm when and where we are hoping to do this so we can create a save the date card to send out as soon as we have that all set. The GBLC didn’t have any issues with this but there is a chance that there may lots of labor actions going on that weekend that may make it harder to plan for another event before the traditional breakfast on Monday. We will lay out pros and cons and make a decision soon I hope.
One of our newest members, Taff Bernardo, will also spend a little time talking to us about the podcast/radio show concept and share his expertise in creating and hosting these kinds of shows.
Lastly, we will most likely be formally electing the next Recording Secretary as the Executive Board has nominated our amiga Yessenia Alfaro of UFCW 1445/La Colaborativa to take over this role if the membership agrees with the recommendation.
