About this Event
We would like to share our knowledge of the many fishes present in the Yellowstone River around the Billings area, hoping to offer insight and knowledge into the many wonderful native species Montana holds in its diverse landscape. We will also discuss the benefits of complex habitat, like braided, free-flowing channels and woody materials. Join us as we share our love and knowledge of this beautiful, dynamic river ecosystem!
Demi Blythe is the Billings Area Fisheries Biologist for FWP out of Region 5, which means she helps manage the fisheries for the Yellowstone River between Laurel and the Bighorn River confluence, and the Bighorn River and Musselshell River basins. She grew up in Billings and enjoys floating, fishing, hiking, and skiing around the greater Billings area with her husband, two kids, and two crazy border collies.
Shannon is the regional fisheries manager for FWP in south-central Montana. She has been with FWP since 2020 after 15 years of working around the west for various agencies as a fisheries technician and biologist. Originally from the inland Northwest, Shannon enjoys the diverse fishes, people, and wide-open landscapes of Montana. When not working, you can maybe find her frolicking about on the family farm and ranch in the northeast corner of the state or with her family down by the river.
