Monica MacLean's Ceilidh Band are our guest artistes on Monday 16th February 2026, 7.30pm at the Highland Rugby Club, Bught Road, Inverness. Monica started playing the 2 row Button Box at an early age, sharing the box with her brother and their mother singing while they attempted to get the tune right! This was the only way to learn as there was no one to give lessons living as they did, out in the hills of Rogart. In their mid teens, they changed to the 3 row button box and played at a ceilidh for the Golspie Cadets, great craic and very brave considering they were both amateurs. A school friend was singer on the night and sang Country and Western songs! Monica now plays the 5 row after lots of persuasion from 2 Rogart gents, sadly no longer with us. She still has a go on the 3 row but she says “only behind closed doors “🤣. She loves playing for dancing and nothing gives her more pleasure than seeing folk having a great time on the dance floor, giving it their all!
Monica is a loyal attendee and player on club nights and brings with her, Georgie MacLennan (Rogart) on 3 row button box, Maggie Jamieson (Rogart) on drums and Jacqui MacDonald (Dingwall) on Keyboard, all accomplished musicians and good friends.
