Space is limited in this studio - so priority will be given to those with passes and only to casual and catch up' classes if space. Another benefit to signing up is that we will have a quick mailing list for the term incase there are any last minute change of plans (like last term!)
This is a beautiful and beneficial class which welcomes all pregnant women, those with experience or those new to yoga. This specialised class allows time to slow down, allowing you to connect with your changing body and growing baby. It aims to enhance the health and well being of mums to be, supporting them through the changes during pregnancy and assisting them in the preparation for birth and life with a newborn. There is accumulating evidence that show wide ranging benefits for women who practice yoga during pregnancy, from healthier placentas, higher birth weight of bubs, fewer complications during labour, less pelvis and joint pain and all with no side effects.
The classes have a range of breath awareness exercises, simple asana (yoga postures), short flowing sequences, and relaxation/ meditation. Yoga poses help build strength & stamina required for labour & carrying your baby comfortably through pregnancy with a specific focus on postural awareness, strengthening legs, pelvic floor and hip and shoulder openers. There are many benefits to practicing yoga during pregnancy including easing back and pelvis pain, assisting digestion and overall comfort, to reducing anxiety about birth and motherhood.
It is generally recommend to start this class after first trimester, if you are unsure, especially if you have a history of, or are experiencing complications, please check with your midwife prior.
Because of limited room at The Movement Space we are encouraging you book your spot to ensure there is room for you. Classes will run in 10 week blocks over the year (alongside the school term) We offer these options:
$160 for a 10 class Term 1 pass (if space catch up classes will be available on Sunday if a class is missed)
$90 for a 5 class Term 1 pass
$20 casual - drop in rate
Please note: classes usually run alongside school terms and not during school holidays. Please check with the teacher for public holidays/long weekends classes as we will usually try offer just one Monday or Sunday class over that weekend.
Bring a mat, drink bottle if you have one, and wear comfortable clothes to move in. Blankets and supportive props provided.
