New to blues dancing or our community? Bummed you missed out on a particular class you couldn't attend? Want to revisit some concepts and ideas explored in previous classes? This month is for you!! We're running back some awesome lessons from amazing local instructors - check the FB event for the full line-up! (Coming soon, will link when up)
8-10PM DJ SOCIAL DANCE Then put those a-ha’s and dance-lightbulb moments to good use at our social dance immediately after! One of the great bluesmen, Willie Dixon, once said that blues is the roots and the rest are the fruit; so you can expect to hear Chicago Blues, Jazz Blues, Piedmont Blues, to name a few - but you might also hear Soul, Funk, R&B, and more! Stay tuned for who’s spinning the tunes 😎
OTHER IMPORTANT INFO We strive to be a welcoming and inclusive community that takes everyone’s comfort and safety as top priority. Anyone can ask anyone to dance, and anyone is welcome to say yes or no with no explanation needed. Blues often utilizes the ‘close embrace’ or ‘shut’ dance position, but it is not required of the dance. If you would like to try, always ask first and respect whatever answer you receive. If you try and realize you’re not comfortable, you can always adjust at any time. Stretching comfort-zones can be good, boundary-crossing is absolutely not. 🤗
In an effort and belief to keep dancing as accessible as possible, entry is free. Donations help us keep local Blues dance going and growing! Everything collected beyond rent for the night goes directly back into the community for events and supplies. $5-15 is encouraged when able 😄
