This is an opportunity for community 'Sangha', a supportive network, where we share space, dharma teachings and meditation at Kalyāna Studio - a dedicated space for yoga and meditation practice. We are nestled on the fringe of the forest in the southeast corner of Erickson, close to Erickson Elementary & Race Track Gas.When we sit and practice with others, we benefit from shared intention, inspiration, and generosity offered by each one's own present-moment awareness. Through practice, meditators cultivate a skill of connected awareness, open self-inquiry, and compassion. As we personally benefit from ongoing practice the benefits can ripple out to our households and broader community.
The guidance offered is non-secular and approachable to all; sometimes live-streamed through Sangha.live recorded daily meditation, sometimes supported with a short reflection by your host, Plum. My own practice grew from an introduction to vipassana meditation in 1998 with two week silent retreats, and years of exploration of dharma practice and various healing traditions, including dyad retreats, plant medicine retreats, and various Zen Buddhist and dharma workshops.
Monday meditation practice is grounded in experiencing reality as it is, truth of the very moment to moment experience, and orienting toward what is beautiful, uplifting, and life-supporting. This is a gentle and compassionate practice.
General format is as follows:
10-15 minute reflection
30-40 minute sit
followed by opportunity to share
Each Monday you can expect a slightly different approach, while staying true to present embodied awareness: being with reality as it is, not necessarily as you want it to be.
Generally speaking the monthly structure is like this:
First Monday of month: guided meditation with video recording, from sangha.live with founder, Martin Aylward as guide.
Second week of month: Plum facilitates talk and occasional cueing.
Third week of month: short reflection, and silent sit, (no cueing)
Last Monday of month: short reflection, opening meditation with mantra/ chant/ song, followed by sit.
Please DM me (Plum) to inquire.
Kalyāna: That which is uplifting; pointing to what is beautiful in the beginning, in the middle, and in the end; a blessing and good fortune.
