As John McClane waits for his wife's flight to land at Washington Dulles International Airport, chaos erupts when a group of highly trained mercenaries takes control of the airport's communication systems, trapping all the planes in the air. Led by the cunning and ruthless Colonel Stuart (William Sadler), the terrorists demand the release of a captured drug lord. Realising that innocent lives are at stake, McClane once again becomes a one-man army, determined to stop the terrorists and save the passengers aboard the hijacked planes. With limited resources and against the odds, he must navigate through a web of deceptions and outsmart the terrorists to bring them down.
