Hi All budding basketballers!!
We have a casual pick up basketball gaming going for the last few years in the YMCA on Aungier St. You should come!
Ok, so the details:
- Start time -19:00
- End - 20:00
- Location - 53 Aungier St, Dublin 2
- Price - 60 euro split between the number of players (e.g. 60 split between 8 is 7.50 euro each)
- Changing rooms - provided as part of YMCA
The game is co-ed and is open to all. However, I must note, this is more for beginners and those looking for a bit more of a fun and casual atmosphere. This is not a serious competitive game of basketball. I only note this as I don't want you to be disappointed if you come with different expectations. :-)
There is also no pressure to turn up every week, although it would be lovely if you did! We realise everyone has lots of things to do and cant always make it. But the more often, the better!
As I said above, this is a co-ed game so both men and women are welcome (it's usually an even split between men and women, but it changes depending on who plays each week.). Each week, we split into teams when we arrive and play as many "first to 10 point" games as can be fit into the one hour slot (1 bucket = 1 point). Usually we would play 4 games....so almost like a full four quarters game :-) We also have a quick breather between each game for a sip of water/cheeky chinwag!
While the game is casual, you do get a good run, so you will feel energised and invigorated by the end! Basketball is a fast game as it is, so bring your running shoes! (though if you forget them, that's ok, we'll have you all the same!)If you have any questions, please send us a message we'll get back to you asap!
Also, as an extra sweetener, we usually arrange to go for a drink every few months (either after a game or a different day) for some pizza and beer or something like that. No hard and fast rule, just if people fancy it!
