About this Event
The Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains are seeking volunteers to take part in a special event! The goal of this unique opportunity is to restore monarch overwintering habitat in lower Topanga State Park, within the Palisades Fire burn scar. Our team will be directing volunteers on the removal of invasive species to ensure native plants can eventually be planted and thrive in this space. We will be directing volunteers off-trail, over uneven ground with the goal of removing invasive plants while maintaining the integrity and health of existing natives, so we ask volunteers take special care during this event.
We will be meeting in a parking lot located off Topanga Canyon Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway. Carpooling to this event is encouraged as parking is limited!
Be sure to wear durable shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS), clothes that can get dirty, and ample sunscreen. Bring a reusable water bottle and dress in layers, as California weather can be unpredictable!
We look forward to your help in our efforts to reforest and heal the wildlands of the Santa Monica Mountains in the wake of the Palisades Fire.
