Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (MLMP) TrainingSunday, May 5 | 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Free; reservation required
Does your heart soar and fill with awe whenever you see a monarch? Are you concerned about the decline in monarch populations?
If so, please join the growing network of Colorado volunteers working with the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project (MLMP) to understand the monarch’s breeding range and habitat use along the Front Range.
The MLMP is a long-term project focused on understanding the distribution and abundance of breeding monarchs in the US and Canada. MLMP volunteers typically spend 1 hour in the field each week monitoring their milkweed patch for eggs & caterpillars. Data from the project are helping inform national monarch conservation actions!
Participants will learn monarch biology & conservation, site monitoring protocols, and how to enter data, along with time to practice in the field. Bring a lunch and water bottle.
