Join the Land Trust for Santa Barbara County on a stroll through monarch butterfly habitat!
Western monarch butterflies come to Ellwood Mesa, Goleta, and other butterfly groves in coastal California where they spend the winter between November and February each year. Learn about their life’s journey while enjoying coastal and mountain views. After visiting the monarchs in their eucalyptus grove, we’ll follow the footpaths through the Ellwood Mesa and learn about the coastal grasslands while keeping our eyes peeled for birds and other wildlife.
We’ll be walking on level to slightly-hilly terrain. Total walking mileage for this event is 2-3 miles. No bathrooms or water available on site. Street parking is available. Bringing a pair of binoculars is encouraged!
