Treat yourself to a well-deserved Mom’s Day Out and enjoy a relaxing, creative escape at this hands-on jewelry-making workshop using fine silver precious metal clay. No experience is necessary—just bring your imagination and enjoy some time focused on you.
During this guided workshop, you’ll learn the basics of working with precious metal clay as you design, shape, and texture your own unique piece of jewelry. Once fired, your creation transforms into solid fine silver, ready to wear and cherish. Choose from earring, charm or pendant designs and personalize your piece with textures, patterns, or organic forms that reflect your style.
This workshop is the perfect blend of creativity, connection, and self-care—whether you come solo for quiet inspiration or bring a friend for a shared experience. All materials and tools are provided, and you’ll leave with a beautiful handcrafted silver piece and the confidence of having made it yourself.

Workshop fee: $85
You will receive 10 grams of fine silver metal clay, and learn how to roll, shape and refine. From there you will design and craft your own beautiful bijou. Included in the class fee are a pair of sterling silver ear wires or a silk or rubber cord. Time permitting we will fire and finish the pieces in the workshop. Pieces that are not completed will be finished by the instructor and can be picked up at the studio the following week.

Fingernail Moon Jewelry Studio is in FAVO - Faith Arts Village Orlando - a vintage 1950s era motel that has been converted into artist studios. Just off Colonial Drive/Highway 50 near I-4, we are conveniently located at the north end of downtown Orlando. Using the addres 718 Highland Ave. you will arrive at the outer parking lot. To enter the facility, turn north on Highland from Colonial, there is a stoplight, and enter the second driveway on the left, through a black fence. You will see a sign that says "Park Lake Presbyterian Church, FAVO Art Studios". Proceed through the parking lot to the far right and rear and on through the driveway connecting to a second parking lot. You will see an L-shaped building with colorful doors - that's us! I am studio 237, second from the end upstairs on the right. Look for the moons!

Introduction
Info: We'll get started with some quick introductions and then jump into learning a little bit about the studio, about metal clay, and about the procedures for the class.

Making Jewelry!
Info: We'll start by deciding on our designs. There will be a wide variety of textures, cutters, etc. available to help. We will learn how to work with precious metal clay, and practice first with polymer clay. Then we'll jump in and create our pieces.
🕑: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
LUNCH!
Info: By noon we will have our pieces ready to dry and we will take a break for lunch. There is a wide variety of restaurants of all types and price ranges in the area, but you are welcome to bring you lunch and eat in the studio.
🕑: 01:00 PM - 01:30 PM
Refining
Info: After lunch our pieces will be completely dry and hard enough to refine. We will sand and smooth the edges and get them ready for firing.
🕑: 01:30 PM - 02:30 PM
Fire and Finish!
Info: We will learn how to use a small culinary (creme brulee) torch to fire our pieces. Each student will fire their own if desired. Then we will burnish and polish the pieces up to a beautiful shine. Patina can be applied if desired.
