It's May First Friday! Come check out the work of Danger Benzin hanging on our gallery wall for the entire month of May.A statement about the work from Danger Benzin:
This show will consist of paintings of my photography (for the most part) from memorable moments in my life over the past 10yrs or less. I tried to capture the moments & memories that have been burned into my mind. To keep some suspended in their state and others to try to find closure and healing. Many of these moments were at some of the darkest, lowest and loneliest points in my life. In those moments, like being homeless, or feeling totally alone I forced myself to see the beauty around me at the time. To try to focus on something else. As a practice it has helped me to fully appreciate every aspect of the moment and attempt to see the light in the darkness. Others were captured during times that my heart was full of joy. Learning that they can at times coexist. All were life changing events that I felt needed documented. When you are struck or cut you'll end up with a bruise or a scar, a monument to your pain. While a kiss or a warm embrace leave only traces in your memory that will fade. I'm trying to create monuments that mean something extremely personal to me with the hopes that others will see the light I saw in the dark.
Prints and original art will be available with an opening reception from 6 – 9PM on Friday, May 3rd. Weekly gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12 – 6pm.
