Tracy Heldal is a Yoga Alliance registered Vinyasa, Yin, Pre and Post Natal Yoga teacher with a special training in classes for New Mothers and Babies from Baby Bliss Yoga. As a mother of two herself, she deeply understands the Postpartum phase as a uniquely special and tender time for both mother and baby. Her classes are for mums who are at least 6 weeks postpartum (or 8 weeks if you had a C-section). Babies, are welcome up to the active crawling age of around 9 months.
The classes include a general vinyasa flow class with a focus on rebuilding core strength. The exercises incorporate abdominal and pelvic floor strengthening, increasing mobility and flexibility and safe weight-bearing exercises to improve joint stability and bone density. This class is designed to combine Mum & Bub bonding time while allowing you to get back into shape.
Everything done in the class is baby friendly, meaning that they will either be included in some of the exercise prescription and/or can be laying by your side, so you are encouraged to incorporate your newborn in on the fun. You can stop exercising at any time to feed, change or comfort your baby, re-joining the class when you feel comfortable. The class is often finished with either some songs for the babies or a short baby massage sequence.
The classes are safe and active, yet calming and supportive. They are a wonderful way to begin to ground yourself during such a transformative time and allow you to practice a truly necessary act of self care for both you and baby postpartum.
We have all the equipment you need at the studio, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
