Races start at 2pm and registration opens at 1.30pm
Mold Pancake Races, organised by Mold Town Council, is FREE to either take part in the race or just come along to watch the fun. All pans, pancakes and aprons are provided for the runners. The rules are very simple, teams of four run in a relay for the pancake races – each person, wearing an apron, runs one length of Daniel Owen Square, tossing and catching their pancake three times. They then hand over their pan, pancake and apron to the next person in their team. Aprons have to be tied on! Teams will be timed and the fastest adult team and children’s team, which has tossed their pancakes the correct number of times, will win a prize. You can enter the race on the day, registration starts at 1.30pm and if you don’t have a team of 4, don’t worry, there will be plenty of willing runners to join your team!
The pancake races are once again being supported by Spaven’s Sweet Shop, King Street, Mold, who are making the pancakes for the races and also kindly donating the prizes for both the fastest children’s and adults teams. Spaven’s have supported the town’s races for several years and have perfected a batter that makes a pancake strong enough to last being flipped (and dropped) during the races.
As with so many community activities the Pancake Races rely on volunteers to help on the day – thanks go to the stewards who will include members of Mold Town Council and residents. If anyone would like to volunteer to help out please contact [email protected]
The event is a well-established firm favourite in the town’s events calendar and has been missed over the last two years so it would be great to see people out and about in the fresh air having fun and Mold Town Council hope to see residents, businesses, groups and schools coming along for a ‘flippin’ great time!
