In a collaboration between the Putting Down Routes team and moja collective we are offering an amazing challenging hike in Box Hill Surrey.
π Trail Details:
Length: 15 km
Elevation Gain: 850 meters
Trail Type: Circular - For safety reasons we will send the exact route to the attendees directly.
Duration: 6 hrs (approx.)

π Train Tickets:
You are responsible for purchasing your own ticket to Dorking (Main) Station. Moja Collective is not responsible for train ticket refunds.
Our hike leader conducts risk assessments and provides all necessary details to ensure everyoneβs safety and preparedness.
β Duration:
The hike will last approximately 6 hours, including breaks. The pace may vary, so flexibility is key! Due to shorter daylight hours, we will strictly adhere to the schedule to avoid night hiking.

This hike is open to everyone who identifies as Black or Brown (POC, BIPOC, ethnic minorirty), aged 18+. We welcome participants of all ages (18β70+ years) and fitness levels for a supportive and encouraging outdoor experience.

π Preparation:
A detailed list of essential hiking equipment and attire will be sent closer to the event date. Expect an authentic outdoor experience with muddy trails, so come prepared!

- Sign-up is mandatory.
- No plus ones allowed.
- One sign-up per person.

- This hike is of a challenging level with steep inclines and uneven terrain.
- Our hiking leader is Outdoor First Aid qualified but not a certified walk leader. Participants are responsible for their own safety.

π What is the terrain like on this walk? Mostly muddy footpaths but there are some uneven, rocky paths on the route. There are some steep hills, but this is a gentle paced walk, and we will intentionally take many breaks. This is a very long walk - a good level of fitness is required as well as good walking boots that you are comfortable wearing.
π½ Are there toilets nearby? No, public toilet opportunities will be at the train station and on the trains. The hike leader will bring toiletries for those comfortable going to the toilet in nature. If those are really keen to go to a public toilet there is an option in the beginning of the route.
β Is there somewhere to get refreshments? Please bring plenty of water, a packed lunch, and snacks with your for the route. There is a small cafe at Dorking (main station).
πͺ Is there seating options along the route? Yes, we will be taking of breaks throughout the route and will be resting on the grass along the way. There are not many benches and suggest you bring something you are comfortbale sitting on the floor with.
π Is there an opportunity to break for prayer if needed? Yes, talk to one of the leaders and we will take appropriate breaks for prayer.

This event is part of the North Downs Way National Trail and Kent Downs National Landscapeβs Putting Down Routes Project.
The Putting Down Routes project seeks to encourage new audiences from under-represented communities to the North Downs Way National Trail, as well as upgrading and enhancing parts of the trail so they are more accessible to a wider range of people.
The project aims to position the North Downs Way National Trail as a safe, inclusive and accessible destination where all are welcome.
Putting Down Routes is a collaborative project between the Kent Downs National Landscape and the North Downs Way National Trail, working with partners Black Girls Hike and Wild With Wheels. Putting Downs Routes is funded through The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Defraβs Farming in Protected Landscapes.
