𝟏𝟗:𝟎𝟎-𝟐𝟎:𝟑𝟎 Manifestos: Chiron in Aries, Recitals #5 and #6 – Frédéric Gies/Dance is Ancient
Frédéric Gies’ *Chiron in Aries, Recitals #5 and #6* explores the warrior’s willpower alongside the scars life leaves behind, weaving together individual dancer narratives into a collective, choral choreography. This poetic meditation on the self oscillates between fierce determination and vulnerable surrender, creating a mythology that reflects on solitude, healing, and interconnectedness. Each solo dance serves as a manifesto, a soft echo of resilience landing in another’s body, offering a vision of togetherness as a balm for isolation.
𝟐𝟎:𝟑𝟎-𝟐𝟑:𝟎𝟎 Moin (UK) + Rivet
London-based trio Moin, featuring Tom Halstead, Joe Andrews (Raime), and percussionist Valentina Magaletti, blend alt-rock, post-punk, and doom metal with improv and found sound. Their sound is direct yet subtly reassembled, creating an abstract dialogue with electronic music. Supporting Moin, Rivet (aka Grovskopa) brings a rich body music lineage, merging punk, industrial, and pop. His upcoming third album, due in spring 2025 on Editions MEGO, marks a return to his dancefloor roots.

𝙈𝙤𝙞𝙣 (Blackest Ever Black, AD93)
Moin are a trio based in London, comprised of Tom Halstead and Joe Andrews of the band 𝑅𝒶𝒾𝓂𝑒 (Blackest Ever Black, RR) and percussionist Valentina Magaletti, who operates over a great range of projects such as Vanishing Twin, Tomaga and Lafawandah.
The three have been working together intermittently for over 10 years with Magaletti contributing drums to both of Raime’s albums (Quarter Turns Over A Living Line in 2012 and Tooth in 2016) and a debut Moin EP in 2013. Magaletti also joined Raime’s live show for the Tooth album, which toured extensively.
The band navigates a revolving set of influences from obvious touch points such as alt rock, post-punk, art-rock, and doom metal to more abstract ideas found in improv and found sound recording. In addition to these more closely related areas, shades of electronic music are still present providing a constant dialogue between the two practices. The sound is direct but subtly re-assembled.

𝙍𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙩 (Editions MEGO, Midnight Shift) a.k.a Grovskopa
Rivet’s debut album On Feather and Wire – released 20 years into his career at the end of 2020 on the revered 𝙀𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙈𝙚𝙜𝙤 label – surprised and delighted with its punk spirit, industrial pulse, sensual atmospherics, and body music flavor, gave us a better sense of what the Malmö favorite is capable of. Hinted at by his work as the body music enthusiast behind Kess K*ll record label and the years honing his production skills, first as Grovskopa and then as Rivet, his current sound has a sophisticated slink and a surprisingly accessible twist of pop, while still recognizable in its dance music lineage.
Winter 2023 saw Rivet’s second album ‘L+P-2′ dropped on Midnight Shift Records, with RA calling it, “A touching and occasionally searing portrait of grief through the lens of post-punk techno.” It came with accompanying remixes by artists Hodge, Nik Void, Hüma Utku as well as other friends and affiliates.
In 2023, he worked with electronic musician and composer Luis Pestana and double-bassist Gregory Vartian-Foss for a special SHAPE+/INTONAL commission and performance.
Always working, Rivet's third album, due on Editions MEGO in spring 2025, recognizes his dancefloor roots. But his other big release for 2025 will be as a producer and mixer for a 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰 𝘢𝘤𝘵's comeback album to be named soon.
