Do to inclement weather resulting from #HurricaneIan, the Mogadishu Mile 5K will be postponed until October 22, 2022.
Join the U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum as we honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia AKA Operation GOTHIC SERPENT.
The event name, “Mogadishu Mile”, refers to a route that was run by United States Army Rangers and Special Forces soldiers from a helicopter crash site to an appointed rally point held by the 10th Mountain Division on National Street during the Battle of Mogadishu in October 1993. These acts were the inspiration for the 2001 movie, Black Hawk Down.
The MOG Mile 5K is not a timed race so there will be no prizes or places for the top three winners. Participants will run at their own pace.
Registration is open to anyone 18 and over. Only the first 200 registered participants will receive a t-shirt. Kids under 18 can participate at no charge, but only with a registered adult.
