MOCHIFEST & JOYA-E ON NEW YEARS EVE(Wednesday, December 31st)
As we approach our Joya-E New Year’s Eve Celebration (on Wednesday, December 31st), we’re preparing for one of our joyful traditions, MochiFest.
4:00-6:15PM
MochiFest
We'll be selling freshly made Traditional Mochi, Dessert Mochi, and Inari Sushi. We will also be introducing a few special side dishes, including Takikomi Gohan and Tsukemono Onigiri.
When you come for MochiFest, please take a look through collection of Japanese items for sale as part of our Joya-E New Year's Eve Celebration.
6:30PM
Joya-E Service
We will ring the large Konsho (喚鐘) or “Calling Bell” 108 times, representing the 108 ways we get caught in stress, worry, frustration, and old habits that cause us suffering. Each strike of the bell invites us to recognize the burdens we carried this year and to release even a small part of them. It’s about being human and willing to start again.
At our Temple’s Joya-e service on New Year’s Eve, everyone who attends will have the opportunity to be a part of ringing the Konsho. Even if you don’t consider yourself Buddhist, you are warmly included. When you step forward to ring the bell, let the deep tone become a reminder that you are not alone and will always be embraced by boundless compassion.
Thank you for being part of what makes our Temple a place of warmth, generosity, and community.
All Are Welcome, Just As You Are.
Visitors, Families & Kids are ALWAYS welcome!
