About this Event
Winter sowing is an easy, low-cost, and sustainable method of starting seeds outdoors during winter using miniature, DIY "greenhouses" (typically recycled milk jugs). Winter sowed seeds undergo a natural cold stratification—breaking dormancy through cold, moist conditions—and germinate when temperatures rise in spring, resulting in strong, hardy seedlings.
Julie Lux, Anoka County Master Gardener will be your instructor. All materials will be supplied, and you’ll leave the evening with your own completed winter sown container, along with written instructions to continue your own additional winter sowing activities at home!
