Abstract: This lecture introduces a project as part of the Master's Honors Certificate program in Environmental Humanities and Sciences at the University of Oslo (UiO). The project utilized generative AI to create haikus to describe the beauty of Akerselva’s environment. It not only promoted awareness of Oslo's environment, but also highlighted the collaboration between AI and human creativity in expressing the nuances of nature, advocating a harmonious relationship between technology, art and the environment.
The discussion touches on the stimulating debates around generative AI within academic circles, detailing the project's inspiration, the intricacies of formulating AI-generated haikus, and the technology's challenges and possibilities.
The session provides an opportunity to gain insight into the potential of technology in the humanities and how students can use AI as a learning tool.
