Taught by papermaker Nicole Malcolm, this workshop intends to show participants how you can add meaning, objects, and dimension, beyond standard sheet pulling.Participants will use various Western papermaking techniques, from simple sheet forming to instructions for how to pigment pulp. Workshop participants will work with a wide range of pulp painting, stencil making, and additions of inclusions (dried flowers, magazine clippings, personal artwork). Stencils and painterly processes enable participants to produce various images and colors.
No prior experience required!
Student Supply List:
Optional - Personal, flat objects (such as scrap sheets of paper, yarn, ribbon, etc) that can be used as inclusions in their vat or in between sheets of paper.
Instructor Bio: Nicole Malcolm is an artist born and currently residing in Northeast Ohio. Malcolm received her BFA at Ohio University in 2021, with a concentration in Printmaking, a minor in Art History, and a certificate in Museum Studies. She has additional studio experience in papermaking, painting, drawing, and book arts. She has experience working at the Morgan Conservatory and Zygote Press.
