Delny is a Shropshire based mixed media textile artist and teacher. Her work is inspired by nature and her surroundings – particularly the Shropshire landscape.This workshop will give participants the chance to create their own mixed media botanical inspired image using intuitive and playful painting techniques such as inks and bleach, watercolours and wax resist. Participants will then have the opportunity to work into their paintings using free machine embroidery, effectively using stitch as a mark making tool to enhance the painting.
No prior experience is necessary. Delny is an experienced teacher and will guide you through the creative process and will respond to individual needs and ideas. This will be a playful workshop. Mixed media is a wonderfully creative way to work – there are no rules – just a willingness to have a go and experiment.
Please bring along your own sewing machine – but get in contact if this is a problem as we do have spares. All other materials will be provided but feel free to bring any images or flowers that inspire. Likewise, if you have sewing materials – threads, cottons, scraps of fabric etc – you will find these helpful but not essential.
