Mixed Media Collage with Astrid

Collage as a medium allows us to take chaos from the world around us and transform it into art. Whether through a political statement, identity exploration, sensuality, or the acknowledgement of beauty, collaging helps us make sense of the world.
Most importantly, college is about having fun, stepping outside your creative comfort zone and experimenting with different materials.
Using old magazines, books, plants, flowers and fabrics, Astrid’s multi-media collage workshop is a space to share creative ideas, practice mindful making and come out at the end with a work of art.
What we will cover?
This hands-on creative class will include:
- An introduction to different collage styles for inspiration.
- A rundown of materials.
- Collage-making time.
- An opportunity to share your work with the class.
- A Gift: take-home collage kit!
All materials provided. Just come along and explore the freedoms of collage.
Who will be teaching?
Astrid (She/Her) is a collage maker, passionate about sharing the joys of creating art. In 2021 Astrid published her first collage Zine in collaboration with Melbourne band ‘The Spaghetti Stains’ and has since created artwork for other local musicians.
Astrid specialises in creating large-scale collage pieces and digital collages using paint, crayons, photographs and her beloved 1970s ballerina book. During lockdown, Astrid distributed mail collage kits through her Instagram @__.mud.__and is excited to share the wonderful world of collage in person at Laneway Learning. You can check out more of Astrid’s work HERE.
