About this Event
Mixed Bag Naarm is a dedicated queer spoken word event, that comes together once a month! Anybody can jump up to the mic and have a go at sharing their poetry, in a safe space full of welcoming folks.
Each month we have a dedicated feature act and this month we are lucky enough to have the incredible Skylar Klease gracing our stage.
Skylar is a multidisciplinary creative living and working in Wurundjeri country. Their creative pursuits range from poetry to filmmaking, DJing, graphic design, art direction, photography, journalism, and songwriting.
Skylar is inspired by writer Li-Young Lee, Allen Ginsberg, Annie Ernaux and Caleb Azumah Nelson. Her writing is self-reflexive, self-referential, and written with a sense of musicality and rhythm. Their poetry often explores themes of love, self-discovery, nature, spirituality and music.
For them, writing is a catharsis and an attempt to rescue meaning from an overabundance of being.
So join us for a positively splendid evening of poetry. As usual signup is on the night and any profits made are donated to the PCRF. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us!
