"Originally from Hackney, Alex was immersed in the wide variety of Black music styles that could be heard growing up in any borough of London during the 80s.
Inspired by what he had heard on pirate radio, he started his musical journey in the early 90s spinning Jungle in several underground clubs. Later gravitating towards the emerging UK Garage scene, he regularly played in clubs up & down the UK as well as out in Germany & Ibiza.
Adding Hip Hop and R&B to his repertoire, he also took time out from his DJ career to try his hand at producing music in the early 00s.
More recently Alex J has been involved with shows on community radio and held down a weekly DJ residency in the heart of Bristol."
