About this Event
Our big reunion is quickly approaching: July 30th, July 31st (the dates are fitting since it's both our 30th and 31st reunion) and August 1st for a Family Brunch.
In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and brush the dust off that yearbook.
Thanks and stay healthy, safe and sane. Hope to see you then!
Reunion Details: Our 30th Reunion (ok - really it's our 31st) will take place on Friday, July 30th from 7-11pm at The Mining Exchange (8 South Nevada Ave., Colo. Spgs, 80903) in downtown Colorado Springs. The restored 1902 historic landmark will host us in their Platinum Ballroom and its adjacent outdoor "back alley" patio with fire pits and cornhole. The cost is $80 per person for purchase HERE at mhs1990.eventbrite.com. Purchased tickets include buffet dinner/dessert, TWO beer/wine tickets, and a full cash bar will also be available. Note there is an additional $5 service charge from Eventbrite. Tickets are only available until 7/23 when we have to provide final numbers and payment to the venue. Tickets will not be on sale at the door. What to wear? casual “going out” attire (jeans is fine).
We just confirmed we are adding a CASINO theme! We will be handing out $500 “funny-money” vouchers and have three casino tables (Craps, Roulette, and Blackjack) with professional dealers provided by Colorado Casino Nights. The dealers will kick off the games at 8pm by exchanging your vouchers for chips at the tables. They will also provide assistance as needed if you are not familiar with the games.
Unfortunately, the 11th annual Mitchell Alumni Golf Classic has been canceled. But the Good News is that the All-Class Social will still take place at classmate Jayson Clark’s grill and pub called Oskar Blues (previously downtown Colorado Spring’s Old Chicago venue at 118 N. Tejon) on Saturday, July 31st from 7-11pm free of charge with food and drink available for purchase. No advance RSVP necessary.
AND FINALLY -We return to the scene of the crime on Sunday, August 1st for a Reunion Brunch from 11am-2pm to ALSO take place at Oskar Blues (118 N. Tejon). Bring the whole family if you'd like, just register in advance with Matt Rowan's wife Erin at [email protected].
It has been brought to my attention that it is the city's 150th anniversary weekend, with downtown parades, the opening of a few new breweries and we will be able to secure some discount rates for some local tourist destinations like the newly opened Olympics Museum. In case you want to make a summer vacation out of it with your family. With all the events planned, I suggest making hotel reservations sooner than later.
Room Rates at The Mining Exchange start at $237 per night. Admittedly, it’s a little pricey since it’s high season. Other nearby options to consider are at the Marriott Colorado Springs for approximately $169 per night. We want you staying nearby if you’re drinking and always encourage ride sharing options like Uber. Other recommended venues near downtown include The Antler's, the Hilton Garden Inn and the brand-new Kinship Landing.
If you have any questions, just reach out to me, JP Shields ([email protected]).
If you have any updated contact emails for anyone from high school that you want to make sure is invited or want to forward this along via Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and look forward to seeing all of you again.
