The City of Springfield’s Planning and Neighborhoods team is excited to host an Open House for Center City neighborhoods, where we’ll share a summary of community feedback gathered during the Missing Middle Housing Neighborhood Workshops held this past summer. These workshops are a part of the implementation of the Forward SGF Comprehensive Plan—specifically related to housing. Residents from Center City neighborhoods joined us to explore how and where “missing middle” housing types could be thoughtfully integrated into their neighborhoods. This effort is part of the citywide remapping initiative, following the City Council’s adoption of the updated Land Development Code earlier this year.
At the Open House, staff will present detailed maps showing individual properties in each neighborhood that were identified as potential sites for missing middle housing. Your input has helped shape these recommendations, which will inform future decisions by City Council as we work to identify areas suitable for rezoning to support and encourage missing middle housing development.
If you are not able to attend the Open House, but are interested in finding more information, please feel free to contact our office at 417-864-1037, by email at [email protected] or by visiting our website at https://www.forwardsgf.com/initiative3/.
We hope to see you there!
