Missing Maps Mapathon at Finnish Red Cross - October 2024

Date: October 2024

Location: Finnish Red Cross Headquarters

Welcome to create maps for a good cause on Thursday the 14th of March at the Finnish Red Cross in Helsinki!

Mapathon is an event where a group of people creates maps together! The Humanitarian OpenStreetMaps Team (HOT) and the Missing Map project coordinates mapathons to support humanitarian response and economic development. We will trace roads and human settlements from satellite images into OpenStreetMap to support one of the tasks available in the HOT Tasking Manager: https://tasks.hotosm.org/. Both newcomers and experienced mappers are warmly welcomed! We will teach you the basics.

Bring your own laptop and a mouse (editing OSM without a mouse is a bit clumsy). If you don't have an OpenStreetMap account yet, you can create one at www.openstreetmap.org/user/new.

See you at Finnish Red Cross on Thursday the 14th of March at 5pm! In the meanwhile, join the discussion in the HOTOSM Finland facebook -group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/hotosmfi/ or/and in the HOTOSM Finland slack channel, please see: https://slack.hotosm.org/

This event is organized by the Finnish Red Cross, ProGIS ry, Maantieteen Opiskelijat ry and other Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team volunteers :)
