The land-grant university system was founded on stolen Indigenous land, and climate change is its continued legacy. The nonprofit climate newsroom Grist recently published a major investigation on state trust lands that illustrates how 14 public universities continue to profit off of Indigenous resources, receiving billions of dollars in revenue through fossil fuel exploration, mining, timber harvesting, and other extractive industries.
