Mirfield will be singing in the festivities this Christmas Eve with the annual Carols Round The Tree outside Mirfield Library from 4pm on Saturday 24th December. Gathering from 3.45pmNow in its 14th year, this free festive community gathering has quickly becoming a Mirfield family tradition to meet up with friends and family, and welcome in the big day.
A true coming together of local organisations, businesses and residents, has seen Carols Round The Tree grow year on year - each adding something new each year.
Carols will include favourites such as: Away in a Manger, While Shepherds Watched, We Three Kings of Orient Are, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Once in Royal David's City and Silent Night.
This year there will be no refreshments as we have limited resource (now Martin and his family have fled to Wales) and a couple of alternatives we had hoped would come off, haven't. If you can run a stall, then in get in touch - but if not, the local bars will be waiting afterwards for those who want that festive tipple.
But we will have singers to lead the Carols, local residents giving their take on Christmas, and Martyn Jones compering.
Thanks must be given to Mirfield Library, the Police, Kirklees, Mirfield Town Council, Thornhill Insurance, amongst others, for their ongoing support.
Everyone is welcome to join the singers and brass band to welcome in Christmas in the traditional way. Song sheets will be available on the night and don’t forget to wrap up warm and bring a torch.
Any more details will be posted as they are confirmed.
