Medicinal plant species in the Mint family (Lamiaceae family) will be featured for the final summer class in the Weedy Wednesday Materia Medica series. The large Mint family contains about 7,000 species, and we will be discussing some of my favorite wild plants that can be found growing in our region at this time of year. Included will be Skullcap, Self-Heal, American Pennyroyal, and wild Spearmint. We will also discuss plant identification, wildcrafting tips, medicine-making, and uses of the amazing mint family. Pre-registration is required. $25 fee includes a handout with recipes and herbal teas. *Please note my cancellation policy below.* Materia Medica is a term that refers to the materials used in medicine (plants!) as well as a notebook or herbarium with pressed plant samples or botanical drawings and information on the individual plants. Studying plants one plant at a time in a thorough manner is a wonderful way to learn about herbs without getting overwhelmed.
*Cancellation policy: In the event that I need to cancel a class, all fees will be refunded, or you can choose to apply the fee to a future class. There are no refunds for missed classes, so please keep that in mind when registering. If you are not able to attend, you can transfer your registration to a friend or family member to take your place, please let me know prior to class.
