About this Event
From the Booker Prize finalist and bestselling author Brandon Taylor comes Minor Black Figures, a tender portrait of friendship, creativity, and the connections between them. A newcomer to New York, Wyeth is a Black painter trying to find his place in a Manhattan art scene full of bad art, pretentious artists, gossip and backstabbing. Fed up and suffering from artist’s block, Wyeth meets Keating, a white former seminarian who recently left the priesthood, sparking a friendship through which Wyeth begins to reconsider how to observe the world, in the process facing questions about the compromises we make—in art and in life. In conversation with Jonathan Escoffery. Doors at 7:00pm. $12 adv / $15 door
