About this Event
It's a free event and only heavy rain can stop us!
Dear verticals, it's time to do the 2 days hike through the Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk preserves. We will walk through Mohonk spring, Bonticou crag, different lakes and sky towers.
We will spend a night at Samuel F Pryor III Shawangunk Gateway Campground and hike to the Walker valley on the next day. We are not suggest you to bring your kids and pets to this journey as 2 days hike might be exhausting for them.
Some of us might drive that day or have a reservation at campground so please do not hesitate to inquire the group for carpooling or camp site sharing.

06:30 AM - Meeting at Jay's Hallmark Shop at Port Authority Bus Terminal.
07:00 AM - Departure from Port Authority Bus Terminal to 066 NY-32 Rosendale, NY.
08:80 AM - Arriving to 1066 NY-32 Rosendale, NY.
09:00 AM - Meeting rest of the group at 1066 NY-32 Rosendale, NY.
09:10 AM - Entering the gas station Citgo (1083 NY-32, Rosendale, NY) and buying provision for 2 days.
10:20 AM - Entering the Mohonk preserve and start hiking.
01:40 PM - Lunch at Mohonk Mountain House.
02:10 PM - Returning to the trail.
03:10 PM - Entering Sky Top Tower.
03:30 PM - Returning to the trail.
06:00 PM - Entering Scenic Overlook.
06:30 PM - Entering the Samuel F Pryor III Shawangunk Gateway Campground.
07:30 PM - Dinner at campground.
September 17

07:20 AM - Returning to the trail.
10:00 AM - Entering Castle Point Carriage and Minnewaska lake.
11:45 AM - Lunch at Rainbow Falls or Lake Awosting.
12:10 PM - Returning to the trail.
03:00 PM - Entering the Sam's Point
03:10 PM - Returning to the trail.
04:30 PM - Entering Walker Valley
04:40 PM - Some of us will come back to New Paltz, some will go to Middletown New York station to take a train.
**** HOW TO GET THERE ***
NYC (Port Authority Bus Terminal) to Rosendale:

**** HOW TO GET BACK ***
1) Uber or drive from Walker Valley to Middletown New York Station
2) Middletown New York Station to Hoboken Terminal:

Look for the 6:00 PM train for September 17
3) After we will reach Hoboken we will take the PATH subway to NY
If we will have enough cars we will drop everyone to the train station without taking to the Uber.

Look for walk-in camping with One 12’ x 12’ tent platform.
That site allows you to put 2 tents, so you can split fees between 2 tents.
Campground has a bath where you can take a shower.

About 29 miles hike (14 miles or 5 hours walk per day)
Total elevation: 3730ft
Please keep the above into consideration as this event is not for rookies.
Walkie-talkie: our frequency: 462.6125 or 462.6375 (Channel 3 and 4)
YES you need tent or at least a sleeping bag for 1 night.
Please bring enough water and food for 2 days hike (normal consumption is 1 gal/day).
Highly suggest everyone to bring a water filter, sunscreen and bug spray.
We do not recommend you to swim at lakes and rivers.
