Stuart Lefkowitz will share the history of mining iron in New Jersey through stories from his book, Mining Iron in Northwest New Jersey: The People. The culmination of ten years spent interviewing mine workers and their families, it is original research on the people who were born, lived, worked, and died in an iron mining community in Mt. Hope, later Rockaway Township, New Jersey, from early in the 20th century until the 1970s. It was a plantation community in that each family either grew or bartered food and daily necessities from neighbors. What they didn't grow, raise or make themselves they bought from the company store.No registration required, however seating is first-come, first-seated. For more info:
