What might a typical workday look like for the researcher of the future? Imagine starting your day by receiving newly published articles directly in your inbox, delivered by advanced AI assistants. A virtual companion suggesting new research directions, while an AI model processes vast datasets in the background. Does this sound like science fiction? The reality may be closer than we think!

The integration of artificial intelligence into research processes promises unprecedented efficiency. Time spent on data organization and analysis could be reduced, allowing researchers to focus on developing hypotheses and interpreting complex results. However, as technology takes over routine tasks, a critical question arises: how can we ensure that the researcher remains the creative and critical mind behind the research?
??????? ??? ?????? ?? ????????
Join us for an engaging mini-symposium at Tilburg University to explore these questions and more. The event will open with a lecture by Tilburg University philosopher Nathan Wildman, who will examine the transformative impact of AI and other emerging technologies on academic research. Key questions he will address:
- What might a researcher’s typical workday look like in 10 years, 100 years, or beyond?
- Which tasks should AI take over, and which should remain uniquely human?
- How can researchers preserve their creativity and critical thinking in an AI-driven environment?
- What moral responsibilities come with relying on AI for data interpretation and decision-making?

Following the lecture, a 30-minute interactive discussion will take place with young researchers from different Tilburg University schools. The panel will provide diverse perspectives on the evolving role of academia in an increasingly technological world.

- Valentina Sanchez Melchor (Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences)
- [More panelists to be announced soon!]
This symposium will be followed by an informal get together with drinks and a small bite at Grand Café Esplanade to finish those conversations you didn’t have time for during the event.
This program is organized by Studium Generale, Research Infrastructure and Tilburg Young Academy.
