Come learn about the historic art of Sailor’s Valentines just in time for Valentine’s Day! In this workshop, you will create two mini-Sailors Valentines using small seashells on a 3.5” wood slice painted pink on both sides. Kim Brown will have a variety of sample design ideas and will demonstrate how to create shell flowers and other effects for the design.
You will also receive a pink ribbon, which you may choose to tie in a bow on top of the finished piece and then display it on a tiny easel (not provided), or you can tie the ribbon in a loop for hanging. All materials provided.
Kim Brown is a Lewes-based artist who is best known for her work creating Sailor’s Valentines, which are intricate mosaics made from tiny seashells. She also engages in other forms of shell and sea glass art and loves to paint, as well.
