About Acción Latina
Acción Latina builds healthy and empowered Latinx communities in the San Francisco Bay Area through cultural arts, community media, and civic engagement. They document and celebrate the diverse cultural history of Latinx communities by publishing the award-winning bilingual newspaper El Tecolote and producing rich cultural arts programs such as the annual social justice concert Encuentro del Canto Popular, the community-curated arts experience Paseo Artístico, and the Juan R. Fuentes Gallery.
About the Artists
DJ Agana is an internationally acclaimed multi-dimensional contemporary artist converging traditional large-scale murals and contemporary street art by painting prolific imagery as calls to action encompassing black liberation, women’s empowerment, and environmental and racial justice issues.
Josué Rojas is a Salvadoran American artist, painter, and muralist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. A committed visual creator, Rojas’s aesthetic explorations are a combination of modern and classical influences where fine art meets the urban. His inquiries go beyond providing a mere style — rather, they earnestly seek to bring about a vision, a way of seeing the world. Utilizing elements of pop art, poster art, Chicano- and Mexican-heritage murals, classical painting and drawing, and even digital art/collage, Rojas’s visual work wields the power of the tension within diverse modes of mark making.
