About this Event
Runs Tuesdays; November 11, 18, 25, 2025.
Mini Minnows is a toddlers (24 - 36 months) and parent/caregiver swim group focused on building comfort and confidence in the water.
Recreation Therapists will guide parents/caregivers and their toddler in fun and interactive activities aimed at building comfort and confidence in the water and introducing early swim skills through songs, games, and play. Parents/caregivers will also be learning about other TVCC and community based swim opportunities.
Prior to attending this pool group, a Recreation Therapist will contact you to learn more about your child.
Goals:
1. Water Confidence: feel comfortable in water and feel comfortable in a pool setting
2. Water-Positive Attitude: develop a positive connection with water through play.
3. Water Skills: learn early swim skills assisted by a parent/caregiver including active movement, floating, moving on your stomach.
4. Parent Coaching
For this swim program, parents/caregivers MUST accompany their child in the water and pool deck/change rooms and be within arms reach at all times, even if they are wearing a floatation device. Parents/caregivers must be comfortable moving through chest-deep water (1.2m), understand how to be safe in the pool, and be able to respond to the needs of their swimmer. If this does not describe the parent/caregiver's comfort in water, please contact [email protected] for alternate pool programs.
